Ruthless Jabiru: Loose in London

We were recently approached by the Journal of the Music Council of Australia, Music Forum, for an article on Australian musicians overseas. The piece is in the Autumn 2012 issue which is now on sale in Australia. Many thanks to Richard Letts for such a great feature on the orchestra and myself, Kelly Lovelady. The journal is only available online to MCA members but here’s a link to our article, “Ruthless Jabiru Loose in London”.

The feature also talks about a similar initiative to ours, made up of Australian career musicians in New York City. ExhAUST is a chamber ensemble of New York-based Australians who present exclusively Australian New Music to the Alt-Classical market. With the sounds of composers Julian Day, Kate Moore, Nadje Noordhuis, William Gardiner, Michael Sollis, Fiona Fraser and Tim Hansen on their opening programme last October, we’re looking forward to hearing who and what they have in store for their next Classical club night.

Welcome from Artistic Director, Kelly Lovelady

My name is Kelly Lovelady and I am the founding Artistic Director and Principal Conductor of London’s all-Australian chamber orchestra, Ruthless Jabiru. We at the orchestra are currently hard at work behind the scenes in preparation for a series of concerts later in 2012. We’ve decided to start a blog here on our website as a way of collating our archives, and reporting our achievements across the course of our development. We’ll use this space as a site for press releases, testimonials, and articles by Guest Bloggers, as well as interviews, editorial, cross-promotions, and media clips of the orchestra itself. There are so many Australian musicians doing great professional work here in the UK and it’s my mission to bring this community together. I hope you’ll enjoy sharing the orchestra’s news over the months ahead.
