Ruthless Jabiru joins forces with Art Not Oil in a major performance event calling for London’s cultural organisations to go fossil funds free. Devised and conducted by Kelly Lovelady, Ruthless Jabiru will perform an industrial meditation around fuel dependency and its ramifications for the soul of our world.

We invite the listener into the beauty of non-verbal protest: the synchronised vision and physicality of an orchestra unified in its intent. A programme of music from five countries evokes a culture of heavy machinery and automation from which the ear leads the imagination.

It is the duty of the arts to reflect our times. We carry a responsibility to hold a mirror to our local and global leadership. We must pursue honesty, accountability and justice through our work to inspire consideration and empathy from the ground up.

We must be ruthless in our commitment to integrity and in this spirit we invite our colleagues and communities to rise above the artwash to prove that the power and perpetuation of London’s creative culture is bigger than Big oil.

Ruthless Jabiru is a London chamber orchestra dedicated to humanitarian stories. Our programmes are devised around existing and commissioned repertoire by today’s composers with a view to promoting sustainability and ethical dialogue.
